Page ads are signposts providing an image and a link to a specific page or section of the site. They appear on the homepage and in the sidebar of most other pages. Some characteristics of page ads:
Page ads can appear in one of three positions on the homepage:
- as the Main page ad
- as a Secondary page ad
- as a Sidebar page ad
It's possible to create a page ad that isn't displayed on the homepage
Sidebar page ads on pages other than the homepage are picked randomly from all page ads except when a page ad has been chosen on a specific page (see here to find out how to do this) in which case the second and third will be picked randomly
Page ads are displayed in order of most recent one at the top (or left, in the case of Secondary page ads on the homepage), but you can over-ride this ordering
Creating a page ad
From any admin page look in the left menu for Page ads and click Add page ad
Add a title and choose the page (or other website item) that the page ad should link to
If the selected item is a Current action and you want the page ad to display a red Take action button, tick the Display "take action" flag.
Now upload an image for the page ad
Click Add image to reveal the media upload popup
Drag your image onto the window to upload it and click Select when uploading has finished
Page ad images should be a minimum of 293 pixels wide and 293 pixels high, but will automatically be cropped to the appropriate sizes.
Now add some Teaser text
Short teaser text – which is displayed when the page ad features in the sidebar
Teaser text – which is displayed when the page ad features as the Main page ad or as a Secondary page ad
Finally set the location of the page ad
By default, the page ad will feature only in the sidebar of pages other than the homepage – and not on the homepage itself. You can change this here:
Don't forget to publish your page ad!
Editing an existing page ad
From any admin page look in the left menu for Page ads and click View all page ads
From the page ads overview page, click the title of the page ad you wish to edit
Re-order page ads
rom any admin page look in the left menu for Page ads and click Re-order
Click and drag the page ads into a new order and click Update
